Interesting how the Halifax Courier seems to get a better interview with Darryl than the Ponte & Cas does.

Interesting quote for our friend Mark Las P ;)

""I see Liam playing at nine, even though he has got the potential to play at seven or six and probably 13 too," said Powell.

"He replaces Joe McLocklan from last year and I see his vision and understanding of the game as a big plus for us."

Thanks for the topic Gazza, I won't get across to Sowerby this week so would have missed it. IMO the Courier beats the Pont & Cas hands down when it comes to Sport. Good news on the horizon, though: John Kenealy, the Courier's On-Line Editor, has moved into the post of Editor of the Wakefield Express, which also involves managerial responsibilities over the Pont & Cas and other papers in the group. He was Sports Editor of the Courier in the eighties and early nineties and had a big part to play in making it such a good paper for sport.

John grew up in Fev and is a Rovers supporter, whenever he can get over from Halifax. He started out his journalistic career at the Pont & Cas.

Don't get me wrong PJT, we could all see from the way the squad was put together that DP's intention was to put Finn at 9. That doesn't mean that I (humble know-nowt fan who sees few matches live) think it's going to be a good idea.

While we've got the ball, it'll be fine. Distribution is largely done by the AHB and the first receiver. In our team that's likely to be a triangle of Kain, Briggs, and Finn plus Lee when he comes on. Fine.

While we haven't got the ball, the two smallest/weakest tacklers usually stand third in from touch, inside the centres, but away from the ruck area. I think with those three on the field together it makes us look a bit light defensively.

If we've got a ball-handling type loose forward like Danny Allen, then I'd've taken the opportunity to put in a tough tackling but more creatively limited hooker (a Terry Newton type).

Just my opinion like, and Ill be delighted to be proved wrong. ;)

On those earlier threads there were fans suggesting Finn had played plenty of rugby at 9, and Dewsbury fans informed us that wasn't true.
