Wow, 17 Hooker Mathault Beauvilliers is seriously special. To be 17 and playing this well against grown men is absurd, massive running threat, (scored a magnificent solo try), reads the game very well and is great defensively despite being small.

This kid could go right to the top in my eyes, I’d go as far as saying he is one of the best 2007 players in the world right now, at least top 10. Won’t be long until SL and NRL clubs come knocking. Villeneuve have one great youth academy.

That would be the ideal scenario.  Let's hope that happens before French RU clubs come knocking!

Do you have a time stamp for his try?

He played for France 17s with my son in England last year, the big props ran at him but he didn't move, he's now fully grown and is around 5 foot 2 (if that) you can see on the try the catalans don't know how to tackle him) if you go low it's almost impossible for the props to get so low, if you stay high it's almost always a penalty, he played a couple of elite 2 games last season as a 16 year old, he's played at least 4 games this season in super xiii, great kid and very good mentality, going all the way will be difficult due to his size as he isn't lightning quick, one to look out for is Adrian de la rose, he has played 3 games at prop for Limoux and turned 17 last week, both born in 2007

It says he is 160cm or 5’3 on the Villeneuve website. Though I will say he does not look 5’3 and I’m pretty sure he has grown. I would suspect he is around 5’5 now, he should continue to grow as he is only 17 hopefully he reaches 5’7 or 5’8 which is certainly tall enough for a hooker. Will have to watch Adrian De La rose play, 17 years old playing in the front row in elite 1 is crazy stuff.

He says 1m60 on his cv but he's 1m58, my son was at the creps with him last year, but 2 cms won't make a massive difference, there's another young lad like him called Tom guillaomou who plays at lezignan, his size will probably let him down too, but Tom is a little quicker and skillful and can play 7 and 9, but not as solid in defence,

He has fully developed, hairy chests and a moustache are a good sign of that 😁

Is playing scrum half not a better long-term prospect for him rather than hooker?
