Full Time Report: Wales 16 USA 24

The USA Tomahawks made it two wins from two thanks to a comprehensive second half showing in Wrexham.

After leading 8-4 at the break – and after defending a sustained period of Welsh pressure early in the second half – the Tomahawks scored three consecutive tries to extend their lead to 24-4 with 17 minutes remaining.

It wasn’t until the last five minutes that the Welsh broke through, first with Christiaan Roets racing away down the left for his second try of the game and then Anthony Walker touched down a Peter Lupton kick two minutes from time. Lloyd White converted both but that still left the Welsh eight points in arrears and their World Cup dreams in tatters.

Joe Paulo was named man of the match, scoring a try himself and adding conversions to tries from Tui Samoa and a second of the game from Clint Newton.
