Gaskell sidelined for Bradford this weekend

Bradford’s quest to gain promotion to Super League has been dealt another blow this weekend after key half-back Lee Gaskell revealed he will not be fit to face Salford on Sunday.

Gaskell was withdrawn in the early stages of Bradford’s loss at Wakefield last Saturday after colliding with a post, and he revealed the gruesome extent of the injury to the Telegraph and Argus.

“I went to hospital in Wakefield for blood tests and an x-ray, and I’ve got bruised kidneys and am still coughing up blood now,” he said.

“Hopefully that will settle down soon but I’ve not trained at all this week because the doctor has told me to rest so the bleeding can stop.”

And Gaskell confirmed that means he won’t be right to take to the field against former side Salford.

“It’s disappointing I miss this week but I should be back for the Widnes game.”
