Catalans Dragons have allowed new signing Greg Bird to return to Australia following the death of his father.
Bird, who has joined the club from Gold Coast Titans on a five-year deal, has returned Down Under immediately to return to his family.
Catalans Dragons football manager Alex Chan said: “This is terrible news for Greg and his family and he has temporarily returned home to Australia to be with his family.”
The 32-year-old is preparing to start his second spell with the Dragons, having originally played for them in 2009. He has also played for Cronulla Sharks and the Titans.
