Hardaker decision to be made this week

Zak Hardaker’s future is set to be confirmed this week, with Castleford, Huddersfield and Salford leading the chase to sign the former Man of Steel.

The three Super League clubs have been in pursuit of the England international for some time, but a deal is set to be struck by the end of the week.

TotalRL understands that Castleford are the front-runners in the race to land the 24-year-old, with Hardaker’s preference understood to be a move to the Tigers. However, his options remain open with both the Giants and the Red Devils desperate to sign him.

Huddersfield have yet to formally announce a new signing for 2017, while a number of players have departed. Jake Connor, Scott Grix, Kyle Wood, Josh Johnson and Eorl Crabtree have all left, leaving the Giants with plenty of cap space to play with.

Meanwhile, Marwan Koukash has been working tirelessly to get a deal for Hardaker over the line.

With Josh Griffin now departed for Hull FC, the Red Devils are in need of a centre, where Hardaker primarily played during his stint at Penrith Panthers.

Salford are currently working on numerous deals for new players, with the club keen to bolster it’s front-row following the departures of Luke Burgess and Feleti Mateo, both of whom only joined the club in July. Lama Tasi and Lee Mossop are among signings already made by the Red Devils.
