Craig Huby admits it would have been “easy” to stay with Castleford beyond this season, but says the opportunity of a new challenge with Huddersfield Giants was the driving force behind his move across West Yorkshire.
The 28-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Giants from next season, bringing to an end a lengthy association with Castleford. He says he wanted to ensure he didn’t regret anything when the curtain came down on his career – and the time was right to set himself a new challenge with a new club.
“I’ve had a lot of long chats with my wife and my dad about the things I want to do. The main thing was not regretting anything when I did finish,” Huby told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“The easy option was to stay at Cas. I have been here a long time and I am comfortable here, but I wanted a new challenge. I think that might push me on and give me the boost I need.
“My time here has been unbelievable, especially what we have done this year. It will stay with me forever, but it is something I felt I had to do.”
