Huddersfield loose forward Michael Lawrence is looking for a big improvement when the Giants take on Catalans Dragons on Friday (8.00pm) in their elimination play-off at theJohn Smith’s Stadium.
The Giants fell 57-4 at Wigan Warriors in their first play-off game last week and Lawrence and his team-mates are determined to bounce straight back.
“We let ourselves down in every area of the game against Wigan,” said Lawrence. “They were on top from start to finish and dominated the middle of the field. We’re determined to get all of this right for Friday.
“Paul Anderson was furious with us and there were some strong words spoken at half-time and at the end of the game. We’ve had some very tough video sessions since the Wigan match.
“Nobody knows the squad for the Dragons game yet and all places are up for grabs from one to 17. Every single one of us wants to get that jersey on and prove ourselves. The fans deserve a good performance.

“We’re two games away from the Grand Final at Old Trafford. This is our last chance now and we’ll give it everything we’ve got to get there.”
Lawrence is the top tackler at Huddersfield this season, racking up 736 for the season so far. The Giants forward watched Catalans Dragons beat Leeds Rhinos at the weekend and is expecting a physical battle in the middle of the field from the French club.
“They can get on top of you in the middle and that’s where we lost it against Wigan,” said Lawrence.
“Their pack performed really well against Leeds and when that happens that usually makes your half-backs lives a lot easier giving them freedom to play.
“Defence is a big part of my game and something that I pride myself on. My standards are very high. I look up to players across the world who have a solid, aggressive style. Players like Sonny Bill Williams are great to watch.
“It’s good to have Danny Brough back in training. When Broughy doesn’t play it takes a lot away from our attack. He has a big influence on the game.”
