HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS prop George King will have a testimonial year in 2027.
The 31-year-old Ireland international is in his second season with his hometown club after previously playing for Warrington Wolves, Wakefield Trinity and Hull KR.
He made his first-team debut with Warrington in 2014 and featured in their Grand Final defeats by Wigan Warriors in 2016 and 2018.
King has also featured in three Challenge Cup finals, each time as a runner-up – for Warrington against Hull FC in 2016 and Catalans Dragons in 2018 and for Hull KR against Leigh in 2023.
The older brother of Warrington centre Toby King, he has topped 275 career appearances, building a reputation as one of the game’s toughest and most dependable forwards.
King was in the Huddersfield development system before being signed by Warrington and has played in 14 Tests for Ireland.
“I’m incredibly proud and honoured to have been granted an RFL testimonial,” he said.
“To have the support of my family, friends, teammates, sponsors and everyone who has been part of my journey means more than I can put into words.
“The testimonial will be about much more than celebrating my time in the game. I want it to be something special that gives back to the amateur clubs and communities that helped shape me into the professional player I am today.
“I’m also delighted to announce my chosen charities will be the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, which holds a special place in my family’s heart through many years of fundraising and volunteering, Huddersfield Mission (which helps those struggling with homelessness, poverty, mental health issues and addiction) and the MND Association.
“Over the coming months, I’ll announce my testimonial fixture along with a number of events.”
