FORMER RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer has taken up a new role heading a collection of national sports governing bodies.
Rimmer, who currently holds a position at Huddersfield Giants, has been appointed chair of the newly-created NGB Coalition on a four-year term.
The group, set up by the Sport and Recreation Alliance, aims to bring leaders in different sports together to discuss shared issues and influence policy.
Appointed to the Giants’ board last month as a ‘director for change’, Rimmer has assured that role will not be compromised by his new one.
“It is a limited, part-time role and will not affect my contribution to the Giants,” said Rimmer.
“However, it will mean that I will sit at the heart of the sporting UK NGBs, will help shape their collective thinking and will ensure that it is represented properly in Government and other key organisations.
“Their impact on the nation’s well-being is immeasurable.”
Rimmer led the RFL for five years up until the end of 2022, having been chief operating officer for seven years prior to that.
