Hull confirm Ellis out for the season

Hull FC coach Lee Radford has confirmed that captain Gareth Ellis’ season is over.

Ellis suffered a snapped Achilles against Hull KR last weekend and has already undergone surgery, and Radford confirmed FC fans’ worst fears at his weekly media conference.

“Gaz had his operation on Monday so he’s going to be four to six months,” Radford said. “With it being pre-season there will be no rush to get Gaz back. We’ll make sure he’s ready for next season.”

Ellis may also be joined on the sidelines by half-back Leon Pryce; he will see a specialist today to see if he needs surgery on a shoulder problem – and if he does, his season will also be over.

“Leon had his scan on Monday and he’s seeing a consultant tonight to see if we can put off surgery and hopefully get him back within the next four or five weeks.

“But, if he needs an operation, it’s obviously a 12-week job and that will be his season as well.”
