Hull Kingston Rovers have clarified why Josh Mantellato is not in their squad for Friday night’s game against Wigan, revealing that he is back home in his native Australia to be at his brother’s wedding.
The Italy international flew straight home from Saturday’s defeat to Catalans Dragons in order to be best man at the wedding, and after the club say they received a number of enquiries regarding Mantellato’s absence, they issued the following statement:
“Josh Mantellato was not included in the 19-man squad this week due to his involvement as best man at his brother’s wedding.
“The club were made aware of this situation before he signed in November 2014.
“The player flew to Australia after Saturday’s game against Catalans to take part in the ceremony and will be back in England this Sunday and available for selection for the game against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.”
