WILLIE PETERS admitted Hull KR’s 28-6 defeat at Leeds Rhinos was fully deserved.
The table-toppers were dominated by brilliant Leeds and Peters said: “It wasn’t a good performance or result.
“We didn’t start the game how we planned to. Credit to Leeds, they were very good. Their young middles stood up and taught us about some areas of the game we usually value.
“They had more aggression and intent. They strolled through our line way too easily.
“We need to be honest about why it fell that way. It’s pretty simple. From the start of the game we didn’t build any pressure with our last plays.
“But I want to start with our tackling. Our tackle selection wasn’t good. We were very grabby. They had good intent, good contact, and we didn’t.
“We’ve scored by far the most points in the comp so we can attack, but tonight we didn’t look comfortable at all.”
Peters refused to use the loss of props Sauaso Sue and Jai Whitbread to injury as excuses for the nature of the defeat.
Sue came off after just three minutes with a knee injury, although Hull KR are more optimistic about Whitbread.
“Jesse (Sue) was a huge loss but people need to step up,” said Peters.
“We’ve just got to wait and see (on Sue’s injury). It doesn’t sound good
“We’re fearing the worst but hoping it’s not because he adds so much to our team and we certainly missed him tonight when he was off.”
