Hull KR sent into loan market to boost squad

Hull Kingston Rovers coach Chris Chester has revealed he’s made contact with several rival clubs in a bid to take players on loan – after yet more of the squad’s key members were forced onto the sidelines due to injury.

New signing Dane Tilse and fellow prop Adam Walker have been forced under the knife, which will rule them out for an extended period of time.

They join the likes of Greg Burke, Darrell Goulding and Shaun Lunt in the treatment room, and with so many key first team players out injured, Chester will try to use the loan market as quickly as possible.

“We are very low in numbers at the minute,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.

“I have approached a number of Super League clubs and we are waiting to hear back.

“We are struggling for front rowers and we are looking at bringing in a couple of players on loan, one until the end of the season and the other for a month.

“I don’t know what my side is going to be at the weekend. Mitch Allgood, Dane Tilse and Adam Walker are definitely out and it’s up to others to step up against Leeds.

“Dane had a strong game against a physical Wigan pack, but his thumb was hanging off and he went for an operation. He’s gutted to be out so soon after arriving, but that’s the way the game is.”
