HULL KR ran out 44-0 winners over Castleford Tigers at the OneBore Stadium, and it’s fair to say head coach Willie Peters was a happy man.
Rovers led just 10-0 at half-time, but then registered six more tries – four of them in an eleven-minute blitz – to cap off a thunderous return to West Yorkshire.
After the game, Peters said: “I was really happy with the second half, it was a professional performance.
“We prided ourselves on getting the zero which we haven’t done a lot this year.
“I thought the first half we weren’t there with our energy but we spoke about it at half-time and the players took action.
“I thought we handled what Castleford threw at us. It would have been disappointing if we had let one in at the end.
“You could see what it meant to get that zero.”
Peters also hailed Joe Burgess, with the winger registering a scorching 90-metre interception after being dropped a few weeks previously.
“I think he is coming back into better form. He wasn’t where he needed to be a few weeks ago physically,” said the coach.
“He has had an issue with injuries and his body. He has got that right now. When Joe is smiling and happy, it is infectious with the rest of the group.
“He is a character and I thought he was great.”
However, Sauaso Sue and Oliver Gildart both left the field early with foot and ankle injuries respectively.
