Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis and Tevita Pangai Jr banned again

MIKEY LEWIS and Tevita Pangai Jr have both received fresh suspensions following Hull KR’s defeat at Warrington Wolves on Tuesday.

Halfback Lewis has been given a two-match ban for Grade C dangerous contact, following the incident which saw him spend the final ten minutes of the match in the sin bin.

Prop Pangai Jr, meanwhile, will sit out four games after receiving three separate charges, all for late contact on a passer.

Both players are free to play on Saturday, when Hull KR visit Toulouse Olympique, with their suspensions coming into effect from next week.

That means Lewis will miss their away fixture at Wigan Warriors on Thursday, August 27, plus the visit of Huddersfield Giants on Friday, September 4.

The former Man of Steel could then return for the final round of the regular season, when the Robins go to St Helens.

Pangai Jr will have to sit out that game, and additionally miss Hull KR’s first match in the play-offs should they secure a place.

Both have only recently been in disciplinary hot water, with Lewis only returning against Warrington after serving a four-match ban for a headbutt and a late tackle, also against the Wolves in last month’s reverse fixture.

Pangai Jr was only two games into his return after serving a six-match suspension for gouging during a defeat to Leeds Rhinos in June.

By the time he has served his latest ban, mid-season signing Pangai Jr will have been available for only six of 16 matches since making his club debut.

Hull KR prop Sam Luckley was also charged following the Warrington match, for late contact on a kicker, but the points penalty left him below the threshold for a suspension.
