Hull KR’s treble-winning boss Willie Peters reiterates NRL coaching ambitions

HULL KR’S treble-winning boss Willie Peters has reiterated his future NRL coaching ambitions.

Peters, who guided Rovers to a 24-6 win over Wigan Warriors at Old Trafford in the Super League Grand Final over two weeks ago, continues to be talked about as a potential NRL boss following a remarkable rise to fame in recent seasons.

Since taking over at KR three years ago, the Australian has won a Grand Final, a Challenge Cup and a League Leaders’ Shield this year, as well as previous Grand Final and Challenge Cup Final defeats.

“I’ve got it in my goals to coach in the NRL, but one thing I’ve learnt is not to think too far ahead,” Peters told SEN Radio.

“I’m contracted to 2028, but it’s something I want to do. When that is, I’m not sure.”

Peters turned down the chance to be interviewed for the Newcastle Knights job following Adam O’Brien’s departure at the end of last season.
