Injury Corner: Super League clubs suffer on damaging weekend

IT’S been a weekend packed with injuries in Super League.

The most concerning sight of all came at Odsal, with Bradford Bulls forward Will Gardiner needing ten minutes of treatment before being stretchered off having been knocked out by a nasty collision.

Bradford issued an update on Sunday, saying Gardiner was back home to continue his recovery.

The Bulls also lost Phoenix Steinwede (groin) and Dan Russell (ribs) in their defeat to St Helens, with both to be assessed this week.

Warrington Wolves also had a damaging game, losing Arron Lindop to what is feared a serious knee injury as well as Josh Thewlis (ankle) and Jordan Crowther (calf) in their win over Catalans Dragons.

Victory also came a cost for Wigan Warriors, who saw forwards Liam Farrell (shoulder) and Luke Thompson (foot) depart early at Hull FC. The severity of both is yet to be determined.

There were failed head-injury assessments for Hull KR’s Dean Hadley, Castleford Tigers’ Jordan Lane and Hull FC’s Harvey Barron, meaning all will miss Magic Weekend.

So will York Knights youngster Harvey Reynolds, who suffered a dislocated elbow as they won at Castleford.
