James Coyle appointed Whitehaven coach

Championship side Whitehaven have confirmed that caretaker coach James Coyle has been handed the role as head coach for the remainder of the 2015 season.

Coyle, who oversaw Haven’s 34-4 defeat at Championship heavyweights Bradford Bulls last Sunday, only joined Haven in a player/coach role last October alongside brother Thomas, who had been playing for Hunslet.

But now the 29-year-old has been charged with leading the Cumbrian side’s charge in the second tier of domestic Rugby League.

He replaces Steve Deakin, who left the club on the eve of the 2015 season, just months after replacing Dave Woods in charge at the club.
