Jim Lenihan on Huddersfield Giants’ latest loss

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS head coach Jim Lenihan cut a wounded figure following his side’s 36-16 loss to Toulouse Olympique.

The Giants were second best throughout after conceding a fourth-minute try and Lenihan believes they are self-imploding at times.

“No doubt we’re disappointed by the result. Right now the opposition doesn’t have to beat us too much because we beat ourselves more than anything,” Lenihan said.

“That’s the mentality we are in at the moment. We’re trying to find quick fixes and short cuts. We put ourselves under more pressure than we need to.

“Football is a very simple game. We’ve got to control where we put the ball, help ourselves out with defence but there were too many errors where we gifted them easy field position.”

Lenihan does believe that it will take time to turn Huddersfield around, adding: “You won’t start seeing things materialise for one, two or three weeks yet.

“But, we will keep working hard, finding little patches and going from there.

“We’ve got to stick to the course, if we know what direction we’re going in then we’ve got to work firmly towards that.”
