Wigan Warriors made an informal inquiry about Huddersfield Giants backrow forward Larne Patrick several months ago, but it didn’t go any further.
However, some reports have again linked the Warriors with Patrick, although neither Wigan nor Huddersfield claim that they are in negotiations, with neither side claiming to be aware of any impending deal.
Patrick, 25, has travelled to Portugal this week with the rest of the Giants’ squad, while the Warriors have gone to Florida for warm-weather training.
League Express understands that Patrick, who played for Wales in the World Cup, has recently appointed a new agent, and is now managed by the same organisation that manages Wales and assistant Wigan coach Iestyn Harris.
But if any deal is to emerge for his services, his current contract with the Giants, which runs until the end of 2016, will be a significant stumbling block.
