Leigh Leopards defeat ‘really frustrating’ for Adrian Lam

LEIGH LEOPARDS coach Adrian Lam was left extremely frustrated by the performance of his side in a 22-8 loss at Hull KR.

“It is really frustrating and uncharacteristic as I think we are top of the league for completions,” said Lam.

“You could say a five-day turnaround (from Bradford last Sunday) and five positional changes didn’t help but there was plenty of effort.

“It was the first 15 minutes of each half, where we gave away penalties. We gave away a high shot each time and it put us back on the defensive.

“Our kicking game wasn’t good. Our two centres, who haven’t played in six weeks, played well. I thought Umlya (Hanley) was the best player on the field tonight but we need to be game smart and not giving away penalties.

“I’m frustrated as we didn’t apply pressure with the ball when attacking and we were nowhere near who we are. In all (it was) a frustrating night.”

Leigh were without Super League’s new record try-scorer Josh Charnley and influential halfback Lachlan Lam.

Both players are expected to be back for next Saturday’s trip to Toulouse but there is a concern for Liam Horne, who left the field for an HIA.
