In a Nutshell
Joe Burgess scored four tries as Wigan overcame a strong challenge from Dewsbury with eight tries in the second half.
How it unfolded
Dewsbury Rams gave a spirited performance in the first half to restrict their visitors to a 12-0 lead through two tries from winger Joe Burgess.
And when Dale Morton scored a try converted by Tom Hemingway in the second half to cut the deficit to six points, the Dewsbury supporters in the crowd of 3,054 had visionsof one of the great Cup upsets.
But Wigan upped the pace and scored two more tries from Burgess, with Iain Thornley also adding two, while Dan Sarginson, Matty Smith, George Williams and Blake Green also scored tries.
Smith added seven goals, while Williams added two for what was a comfortable win in the end. Wigan coach Shaun Wane congratulated all the Dewsbury players on the pitch after the game on their determined resistance.
