Match Report: Parramatta Eels 32 Penrith Panthers 16

In a Nutshell

In the Western Sydney derby, the Eels gave a commanding second-half display to down their fancied rivals to move to 2-2 for the season.

How it unfolded

Willie Tonga opened the scoring for Parramatta, racing 90 metres to score, but former Wakefield star Isaac John soon replied for the Panthers, although, in a seesaw first half, Nathan Peats restored the Eels’ advantage.

Fijian winger Semi Radradra scored just before the hour to give the lead to the Eels after a great pass from Jarryd Hayne. Hayne then scored himself before Ken Sio sealed the victory late in the game.

Dean Whare and Lewis Brown scored tries to restore Penrith the lead early in the second half, before Radradra intervened to finally swing the contest the Eels’ way.

Chris Sandow, restored to the Eels’ side, kicked four from six and generally made a lively contribution to the Eels’ victory.
