Match Report: Sheffield Eagles 34 Doncaster 42

In a Nutshell

Doncaster recovered from a 28-12 half-time deficit to finish like a runaway train to take the points in the South Yorkshire derby at Owlerton Stadium.

How it unfolded

The Eagles seemed to be in control at the break and held a 16-point advantage, but that was eradicated within 18 minutes of the restart and Paul Cooke’s men saw the game out professionally to consolidate their position in the Championship’s top three.

The Eagles scored five first-half tries from Duane Straugheir (2)), Dominic Brambani and Matt Garside (2), with four of them converted by Brambani.

The Dons replied with two tries from Matty Wildie and Dave Scott, both converted by Stewart Sanderson.

But in the second half Doncaster blitzed the Eagles with tries from Wildie, Mike Emmett, Grant Edwards, Liam Kent and Alex Starling (73), all converted by Sanderson, with the Eagles’ only reply coming from Lelauloto Tagaloa.
The Dons’ victory has taken them to third place in the Kingstone Press Championship table.
