WIGAN WARRIORS coach Matt Peet is confident he will have Junior Nsemba back at his disposal in time for the play-offs.
The 22-year-old forward has not featured since pulling up with a hamstring injury in the Magic Weekend win over St Helens at the beginning of July.
Nsemba was initially expected to return in early August, a timeframe then extended by a setback during his rehabilitation, and he will have another scan next week.
Peet however was unable to give a potential return date for Nsemba’s fellow backrower Liam Farrell, who is being monitored on a day-to-day basis after injuring his shoulder in June’s win at Hull FC.
“He’s got a check-up as well in the next week or so, and we’ll know more after that,” explained Peet of his 36-year-old captain.
“Liam’s very much day-to-day, whereas Junior is more of a fixed timeframe.”
Regarding the play-offs, the first stage of which is in mid-September (the top two in the final table don’t enter until stage two), Peet admitted: “Junior should be back, but with Liam, we can’t put a timeframe on it.
“It could be that, with Liam’s next appointment, he gets cleared and he’s back in, but it could be that there’s a longer time needed.”
