Michael Maguire agrees to join Wests

New Zealand Head Coach Michael Maguire has agreed to a three-year deal to start coaching Wests Tigers in 2019.

Thus, Ivan Cleary, the current Tigers Head Coach is expected to leave and join Penrith Panthers, where his son Nathan plays, earlier than originally planned. He will take over from caretaker coach Cameron Ciraldo who has been in charge at Penrith since the sacking of Anthony Griffin towards the end of the 2018 season. Cleary is expected to sign a five-year deal with the Panthers.

This announcement comes straight off the back of Wayne Bennett signing a two-year deal with South Sydney Rabbitohs from 2020 with Anthony Seibold widely expected to go in the other direction to Brisbane Broncos.

Both Maguire and Bennett are currently in the UK as the respective coaches of New Zealand and England.
