Mike Grady bringing ‘energy and belief’ to North Wales Crusaders

NORTH WALES CRUSADERS general manager Conrad Anderson reckons new coach Mike Grady is bringing “calmness, energy and belief” as the club works to re-establish itself.

It’s a second spell at the helm for the man who led the Crusaders between October 2016 and March 2018, and comes after the emergence from insolvency under a new ownership group.

Grady has also coached South Wales Scorpions and, earlier this season, another relaunched club Salford, where he had previously been in charge of the women’s team, while at other times working on the staff of Newcastle, Rochdale and Widnes and within the Wales system.

With a hastily-assembled squad, he had a baptism of fire as leaders London Broncos came to Colwyn Bay and won 134-0.

That was followed by Sunday’s 80-12 defeat at Whitehaven.

All involved at the club know that this season will be a challenge as they aim to underline their credentials to carry on in 2027.

But they believe Grady will be a real asset, with Anderson saying: “Mike knows this club and the standards required and, most importantly, understands the people who make North Wales Crusaders what they are.

“He returns at a time when leadership, honesty and togetherness are vital, and has already brought calmness, energy and belief.”
