Fuifui Moimoi has departed newly-promoted Super League side Leigh Centurions, League Express can reveal.
The 36-year-old powerhouse prop has been unable to agree a new contract with the Centurions. Moimoi, a former New Zealand and Tonga international, had been offered an extension to remain at Leigh.
Club owner Derek Beaumont told League Express: “We made him an offer earlier in the season, which he didn’t accept straight away, and, by the time he had come around to wanting to move forward, we had filled our overseas quota for next season. “The non-federation spots have gone from eight down to seven and, given the time constraints and the push for recruitment, we were left in a position where we could not do anything to keep him here.
“When we got to the point of him looking as though he wanted to stay with us we just didn’t have a spot for him, sadly.”
