SIDDAL moved up a place to fourth in the PREMIER DIVISION at the season’s halfway point with a 26-12 home victory over HUNSLET ARLFC, who had been beaten by Waterhead seven days earlier.
The south Leeds side, who stay second, replied to an early Oliver Lewis try and the first of Harvey Williams’ three goals with a Stan Boyes’ touchdown on six minutes which Jordan Gale converted.
However the visitors had to wait until ten minutes from time before adding to their tally, Gale improving Caelum Jordan’s try.
Siddal were by that stage 22-6 ahead, a lead established by the break with the help of two more touchdowns by hat-trick man Lewis, plus a Sam Walsh effort. And a late Dom Booth try sealed an impressive win for the hosts.
WATERHEAD, meanwhile, are showing championship form and are only adrift of Hunslet ARLFC on points difference after registering a sixth successive victory with a 60-10 success over WATH BROW HORNETS, who have slipped from fourth to sixth.
Harry Dodd scored four tries for the third-placed Oldham side, his hat-trick in the first half helping forge a 28-0 interval lead.
Jamie Devine and Reuben Butterworth replied for the Cumbrians, with Kaleb Crosby adding a goal, but the Warriors closed in style with a Gareth Owen effort, a Tyrone Chipchase brace and the last two of Kegan Brennan’s eight goals.
Max Hobin had crossed twice for the home side, whose other tries went to James Perks and Adam Robinson.
THATTO HEATH have gone above Wath Brow, into fifth, courtesy of a 36-10 success over cellar-dwellers ROCHDALE MAYFIELD, who are still seeking a first win.
Mayfield scored the last points of each half with tries by, respectively, Setareki Talatoka and Cole Connolly, the second of which Ieuan Higgs improved.
Otherwise the Crusaders – who led 18-4 at half-time – held sway with a Kye Siyani brace and touchdowns for Adam Tubey, Jamie Holroyd, Andy Lea and Callum Gregory, plus six Ryan Houghton goals.
Unbeaten leaders WEST HULL, who are now six points clear of the chasing pack, notched an eleventh successive win with a 60-0 stroll at HEWORTH, who despite an impressive performance by Tino Mulasi, dropped into the relegation zone after a seventh defeat on the trot.
Jack Sanderson led the way for the Green and Golds with three tries and eight goals, and Mason Palmer similarly grabbed a hat-trick.
Josh Jarvis and Josh Wood also crossed to help establish a 28-0 interval lead while Harry Hutchinson, Benn Arbon and Sonny Cooper added touchdowns in the second period.
LOCK LANE are out of the bottom two after leapfrogging YORK ACORN and Heworth with a 26-24 win over the Thanet Road side.
Acorn led 12-0 midway through the first half through a try and two goals by Matt Chilton and a Luke Swales touchdown, but the Lane were only 12-10 adrift at the break, Morgan Punchard having converted one of tries by Connor Wilson and Morgan Jones.
Acorn hit back through a Dylan Jackson effort which Chilton improved, only for the Lane to go 26-18 in front through a Kieran Purdy brace and a try and two more conversions by Punchard. That was enough for the victory, despite Chilton improving George Hunt’s late effort.
WIGAN ST JUDES, who had lost their previous three games, staged a stunning rally from 22-0 down at the break to beat WEST BOWLING 38-26 and leapfrog the Bradford outfit into seventh.
Tries by Danny Fallon (two) and Lewis Melling, two of which Declan Parkinson goaled, pegged Bowling back to six points, but the visitors looked to have stemmed the tide when Lewis Camden crossed.
It didn’t turn out that way, however, Judes easing home with unanswered tries in the final quarter for Jacob Dugdale (two), James Worthington and Connor Parkinson, with Kenny Baker (two) and Reece McNally adding conversions.
Wests had led through first-half touchdowns by Logan Simpson, Chris Cullimore, Oliver Bartle and Camden, three of which Harry Williams improved.
Second-placed DEWSBURY CELTIC maintained their push for promotion from DIVISION ONE with a 22-18 win over neighbours DEWSBURY MOOR MAROONS who were, and remain, third.
Joel Gibson, Nathan Lawrence, Oli Thornton and Jordan Hirst claimed the hosts’ tries as a 20-12 lead was established with time running out.
Although the Maroons threatened with a Kieren Hepworth effort and Louie Walker’s third conversion, Hirst sealed victory with an injury-time penalty – his third goal.
Bradley Adams and Jaden Bose had crossed earlier for the Moor.
KELLS, who remain top on points difference from Celtic, notched a tenth win on the hoof with a 74-18 triumph over 15-man PILKINGTON RECS.
The Miners, who were 12-0 up on seven minutes, eased home with the help of a Harry Watson hat-trick, a brace apiece for Clarke Chambers and Aaron Burns, and a try and eleven goals to Ross Gainford. Dan Grears, Grant Gainford, Lewis Smith, Karl Garner and James Ennis also dotted down.
Relegation-haunted Pilks posted touchdowns for Elliot Martin, Warren Paladino, Ben O’Connell and Tyler Duberry, one of which Tom Connick converted.
The dismissal of EGREMONT’S Connor Williams in the first half for alleged striking proved to be seminal in the clash with LEIGH MINERS.
The Cumbrians led 24-12 early in the second period through a try and four goals by Joe Lewis and touchdowns to Williams, Jaiden Tyson and Brad Long, but the play-off aspirants then simply ran out of steam.
The Miners, who had Ben Turner yellow carded midway through the first half for a high tackle, boosted their top-six hopes with a brace for Noah Lancelott, a try and five goals to Calum Ashurst and touchdowns by Tom Burnett, Brad Lewis, Aaron Balmer and Jack Hamer.
STANNINGLEY, who were aiming to leapfrog SHAW CROSS SHARKS into the top six, went in front in Dewsbury on five minutes with a Zack Clayton try.
But the Sharks levelled by the break when Sam Busfield crossed, and Stanningley were condemned to a third successive defeat when Busfield grabbed his second try as the hour beckoned, Evan Stephenson’s conversion proving to be the last score in a 10-4 win.
A late try by Conor Taylor helped break a 20-20 deadlock for WIGAN ST PATRICKS against EAST LEEDS, his second effort securing a 24-20 win.
The Yorkshire visitors might well have prevailed but for the dismissal of Nehamiah Mensah late in the second period for tripping (they also had Bradley Gallone yellow carded for delaying a restart).
Pats, whose Adam O’Neill was sinbinned for a professional foul, had previously posted tries by Sam Harper, Harry Waterworth, Cassius Turner-Walsh and Taylor, two of which Jack Sproat improved.
Easts had been level courtesy of a try and two goals for Jack Buchanan and touchdowns to Logan Roberts, Mensah and Ben Dale.
Bottom side OLDHAM ST ANNES battled back from 12-0 down against visitors OULTON RAIDERS to be only 18-12 behind, with Matty Whitehead scoring a try and two goals and Ady Gleeson dotting down.
Oulton, though, eased away from then relegation zone through a 32-12 win earned with unanswered touchdowns by Bailey Metcalfe and Luke Wilcox, with Archie Craggs landing the last three of his six goals.
Charlie Costello, Metcalfe and Adrian Holdsworth had crossed earlier for the Leeds side.
