Jim Lenihan picks apart another Huddersfield Giants defeat

JIM LENIHAN singled out Huddersfield Giants’ lack of mental resilience after a second half-capitulation at Hull FC.

From being 12-6 down, Huddersfield conceded four tries in the space of 15 minutes midway through the second half.

”For the first 50 (minutes) I thought we were getting some things that we wanted to see,” Lenihan said after the 36-12 defeat, his third in as many games as head coach.

”We didn’t get the try which would have made it 12-12 and then just fell away from the contest after that.

”That’s the part we’ve got to work on. It’s as much our mentality to keep in the contest and keep fighting as it is our physicality.

”Right now it’s quite easy for us to let go mentally of the game and then be in retreat.

”Overall the effort was pretty good today (until) one or two individuals miss their assignment.

“You’ve got to protect your energy ferociously with lack of errors, making sure discipline is good, and getting your assignment done.

”It’s not so much the team falling apart. The team’s working really hard. We’ve just got to get better at individuals complimenting each other’s good work.”
