WIDNES VIKINGS coach Allan Coleman won’t be dialling down his passion any time soon.
Coleman has now been leading Widnes for three years, overseeing finishes of fifth, seventh and fifth again.
They also reached the 1895 Cup Final this year, an achievement that helped the 51-year-old be chosen as Championship Coach of the Year by fellow bosses.
“For me, you’ve got to show your passion to your players,” Coleman told The Forge podcast.
“If they have a coach who is very bland with everything, I feel personally the players then become bland.
“It’s important I say things like ‘I love them’ and ‘I’m proud of them’. People might laugh, but I do.
“It’s like everyday life – we don’t say it enough to our family.
“This is not my team, it’s my family. It’s important any player we sign becomes part of that family.”
