Vikings: Joseph banned, will miss Warrington derby

Widnes Vikings prop Phil Joseph will miss this weekend’s derby clash against Warrington Wolves after being given a one-match ban for a dangerous tackle.

Joseph will sit out Friday’s match, but centre Stefan Marsh is clear to play after pleading guilty to a grade A offence.

Warrington stand-off Chris Bridge admitted a grade A striking offence from the 72-12 win over London Broncos and will lose his right to an early-guilty plea for 12 months.

Broncos forward Atelea Vea will not get the chance to impress his new employers after being suspended for the visit of St Helens on Saturday.

The 27-year-old Tonga international, who is joining Saints on a two-year contract at the end of the season, submitted an early-guilty plea to a grade B charge of striking during the Broncos’ 60-point loss on Sunday and accepted a one-match ban.

Team-mate Olsi Krasniqi will be free to face St Helens after avoiding a suspension for striking in the same game. He admitted a minor grade A offence.
