Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell admitted that he had learnt things about his team following their second-half blip against Featherstone.
The Tigers were comfortable 42-28 winners over their Championship neighbours, but the gloss was taken off the performance after leading 30-0 at the break.
It was a disappointing factor for Powell after a very impressive first-half display in which four of his debutants scored tries.
“Obviously I’m disappointed with the second-half,” he said.
“It was a complete contrast really. We made a lot of errors and lost our way a little bit. We allowed Featherstone back into the game and they were pretty good to be fair, they put us under some pressure, we just didn’t handle the second-half at all.
“We’ve learned a few lessons about individual players, combinations and the team mentality itself. There are things to pick up on but we have a lot of hard work to put in before our first game of the season which will obviously need to be significant improvement on that.”
