Quartet to return for St Helens this weekend

St Helens are set to welcome back a quartet of stars ahead of their trip to Catalan Dragons this weekend, as their injury-hit squad begins to take shape once again.

Full-back Jonny Lomax is perhaps the most high profile name to come back into the fold for the Saints, with Tommy Makinson, Alex Walmsley and Willie Manu all looking like featuring again, too. And Saints coach Nathan Brown admits their week off due to the Challenge Cup has done the squad the world of good.

“They’re all important players for us and to have them all back is a bonus for our squad,” Brown said.

“Obviously, we all wish we had had a game last weekend but having the week off has enabled some of the injured blokes – and the ones carrying bumps and bruises – to be fit for this week.”

However, Lance Hohaia could miss out – but not due to injury. His wife is set to give birth imminently, and that could rule him out of the lengthy trip to Perpignan.

Brown said: “Unless Lance’s wife has the baby in the next couple of days then he can’t be travelling, so he’s a doubtful starter at this stage – but for a good reason.”
