Hull FC coach Lee Radford claims he may have to rush star winger Tom Lineham back into first-team action as soon as he is fit, due to a lack of outside back options.
The 22-year-old, who won the Albert Goldthorpe Rookie of the Year award in 2013, broke his ankle against Bradford Bulls in round four. It’s his second major injury in the last six months and Radford was hoping to ease him back into action by sending him out on dual registration in the Championship.
However, with a shortage of outside backs to call on, the Black and Whites boss might not have chance to.
“Ideally, we’d like to get Tom a run with Doncaster first,” Radford told the Hull Daily Mail.
“For fitness reasons, and certainly with the injury that he has had, we need to make sure he is up to speed. However, it might be a luxury we can’t afford. If we are desperate we might put him straight back in.”
