Rams’ Buchanan banned for offensive tweet

Dewsbury Rams player Austin Buchanan has been suspended for five matches by an RFL Operational Rules Tribunal after being found guilty of posting offensive material on the social media website Twitter.

Buchanan was found to be in breach of RFL Operational Rule D1.8(c), engaging in conduct which is prejudicial to the interests of the game, and the RFL Respect Policy.

The charge relates to an offensive tweet posted on Monday September 16 that was flagged by the RFL’s social media monitoring programme.

The suspension rules Buchanan out of Dewsbury’s pre-season matches and the first three fixtures of the 2014 season.
