Red Star Win Serbian Super Cup

Red Star took their second trophy in the club’s history, beating arch-nemesis Dorćol 30-0 in the SRL Super Cup with a dominant second half performance.

Only 8-0 ahead at the break, two tries from scrum-half Vladislav Dedić to go with his three goals, and one from brother Vojislav saw the red and white’s home at the SC Inge stadium in Belgrade.

Dorćol have dominated the domestic scene, wimnning all four trophies available to them in 2015 but were without eight regulars through injury and used the game to promote a number of their youth side.

Playing in heavy rain, Red Star took an early lead through Rajko Trifunović’s unconverted try, doubling their advantage when full-back Vuk Štrbac crossed. In the second period they added four more touchdowns, Nenad Žujić their other try scorer.

In the first division play-offs, both Radnički clubs retained their place in the elite. Radnički Niš won 16-0 at Novi Beograd whilst Radnički Nova Pazova eliminated Soko Vranje 48-26.
