ROCHDALE HORNETS back-rower Matty Unsworth’s season has finished as soon as it begun.
Unsworth suffered a serious ankle injury shortly before half-time in Rochdale’s Championship season-opening 12-8 victory at Swinton Lions on Sunday.
The 30-year-old, who was making his Hornets debut after an off-season switch from North Wales Crusaders, has undergone successful surgery but has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
Rochdale said: “Matty remains in high spirits, and everyone at the club wishes him well as the road to recovery begins.”
