ROCHDALE HORNETS have added rugby union youngster Dan Lloyd to their squad on the eve of the new season.
Lloyd, 21, has signed from sixth-tier outfit Bradford Salem having previously played rugby league at Huddersfield-based community side Moldgreen.
“We are delighted to welcome Dan to Rochdale Hornets,” said club chairman Andy Mazey.
“Dan has a rugby union background but is no stranger to league, and at six-foot-three and weighing more than 18 stone, he’s clearly a big athlete.
“He has come in with a positive attitude and has made a good early impression on (head coach) Gary Thornton and his coaching staff.
“He’s looking to grasp this opportunity in rugby league with both hands, and we are delighted to have him on board.”
The brother of Leeds Rhinos prospect Zak Lloyd, who played for Yorkshire in Academy Origin last year, Dan said: “Signing for the Hornets is a great opportunity for me.
“I’m looking forward to working hard and helping the club achieve its goals.”
