‘Rugby league needs a fanbase like Hull KR’ lauds Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet

LOSING a Super League Grand Final isn’t the easiest thing a head coach can go through.

For Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet, last month was the first time his charges have tasted defeat in a final under his tenure.

One would have forgiven Peet for being upset, frustrated and quiet, but he was seen heading over to the Hull KR fans at full-time at Old Trafford following a 24-6 loss, thanking them for their support in a rare moment in rugby league.

And he hailed Rovers fans for sticking by their team through the hard times.

“Rugby league needs a fanbase like the Hull KR one. They deserve to enjoy it and of course I wish it was the Wigan fans enjoying it,” Peet said.

“We’ve had our fair share and when the next one comes around we will enjoy it more because of the loss.

“To Hull KR and all their supporters from top to bottom, they deserve it. They’ve been through a lot over the past few decades.”
