RYAN CARR pulled no punches in his assessment of Castleford Tigers’ dismal 72-6 defeat at Warrington Wolves.
“That was diabolical really – everything that could go wrong did go wrong,” admitted the Tigers coach.
“Every try that was conceded we trained for thoroughly. We know what they (Warrington) do well and we knew we needed to stand up and try to stop it, but we had players out there that just didn’t want to do it.”
Carr didn’t shy away from his side’s lack of resilience but was adamant he won’t be afraid to make changes if needed.
“When things went wrong, we threw the hands up and didn’t stop their momentum. We had too many people hoping that Warrington would make an error or we’d get something from the ref,” he said.
“I have to accept the responsibility, it’s my team, but if we have players out there who can’t do it, they won’t continue to have opportunities to do it.
“We can either play the victim mentality or we can respond, so that’s what I’ve challenged the players to do.
“I’m not going to skim over this performance, there’s been too many excuses made here previously and that’s not the way it’s going to be now.”
