RYAN CARR has explained that finding consistency is the key to turning Castleford Tigers around.
The Tigers have lost back-to-back games against York Knights and Wakefield Trinity, with the latter 48-6 defeat in particular causing consternation amongst the Castleford supporters.
Earlier in the season, when Carr’s side have produced a dismal display, they have tended to bounce back.
A 72-6 battering by Warrington Wolves in April was followed by a 40-28 win over Bradford Bulls, whilst a 50-6 hammering by Hull KR was followed by a 24-18 victory against York.
Carr wants the Tigers to close the gaps between their best and worst performances – starting with an improved display at Leigh Leopards on Saturday.
“Every time we have had a disappointing performance, we’ve seen a spike in performance the week after, but it can’t get to that stage,” Carr said.
“It’s a major event that happens to provoke that response. We are always honest with each other and our players are always honest with each other and that’s all you can ask for.
“The key is for me to figure out how to get that consistency. I’m working on that in the background and we need to make sure we put it right.
“You can see what type of team we can be every so often but the best teams do it all the time.
“The gap between the best and worst performances isn’t big between those near the top but that’s not true for us.
“We’re copping some bumps but it won’t alter the drive to be better.”
