Salford Red Devils have signed Brisbane Broncos forward Lama Tasi on a two-year deal.
The fearsome Aucklander earned the reputation ‘The Bondi Bruiser’ during his two year spell at Sydney Roosters and will arrive in Super League known for his huge hits and strong running style along with his ability to wreak havoc in defensive lines.
The 6ft 3, 16 stone 23-year-old can operate in the front or back row and will add further steel to the new-look Salford side when they take to the field under their new ‘Red Devils’ brand.
Tasi was named in Queensland’s Emerging Squad in 2012 and has represented Samoa on one occasion earlier this year.
Lama Tasi will join up with the raft of new stars joining up with the Red Devils in 2014 as owner Dr Marwan Koukash reshapes the Club, bringing in star names such as Rangi Chase, Adrian Morley, Gareth Hock and Tim Smith among others.
He will also join other NRL stars Junior Sa’u and Jake Mullaney making the trip to the North West of England.
Head Coach Brian Noble said: “I bumped into Lama when he was at the Roosters and not only is he an impressive man, he is an impressive presence and he can play too.
“At 23 we have got an emerging talent from Australia and he will do really well for us. I’m excited.”
