BECCA HARLEY has followed in the footsteps of her big sister Fran by being promoted to Barrow Raiders’ first-team squad.
The pair have both been handed squad numbers in coach Amanda Wilkinson’s initial 23-strong squad.
Becca, an outside back who operates primarily as a winger or centre, featured for the club’s Reserves last season.
But after impressing Wilkinson, she was invited to join the first-team squad on trial.
“Becca impressed in the Under 19s open trials with her positive attitude, athleticism and willingness to learn,” explained Wilkinson.
“I invited her to trial with our Super League squad and she has completed the whole of pre-season so far, smashing the skills and drills, embracing the grind and getting in the gains.
“She is a natural player, and I’m confident that she has all the makings of a great back for Barrow.”
The step up for Becca comes just over a year after Fran made the same move.
The older sibling stepped into the first-team environment in September 2023 and made her Super League debut against St Helens at the end of last season.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to be playing for Barrow now,” Becca said.
“This is where I was born, and it means a lot to play with my sister as part of the Raiders set-up. I can’t wait for the new season to begin.”
Becca has been handed the number 24 shirt, while fellow new signings Beth Pattinson and Lucy Dickinson will wear numbers 7 and 20 respectively.
