Shaun Wane doesn’t plan to rest stars for Wakefield clash

Wigan coach Shaun Wane has been convinced to play some of his big-name players against Wakefield this weekend, despite them having less than a week to recover from their World Club Challenge jet-lag.

The 49-year-old says his star names were determined to right their Sydney wrongs.

“They were banging on my door,” he said.

“They’ve changed my mind for me. They want to play and put things right.”

Sources suggest captain Sean O’Loughlin, Michael McIlorum and Liam Farrell are expected to start after pressuring Wane, while Josh Charnley, Matty Bowen and Dan Sarginson are expected to be rested.

“I’ve just got to balance who I give game-time to over the next few weeks,” Wane said.
