Shaw Cross Sharks’ appreciation to Keighley Cougars-bound Matt Bramald

KEIGHLEY COUGARS coach Matt Bramald is fully focused on preparations for his first campaign at the helm after completing his commitments with Shaw Cross Sharks.

And the Dewsbury-based community club, who play in National League Division One, are wishing him well after a two-season stint.

Former Keighley player Bramald, 53, has succeeded Ian Hardman at the Cougars, who finished 16th in the table this year.

He is the second coach in succession Shaw Cross have lost to the professional ranks after Paul March, who is in charge at nearby Dewsbury.

“Shaw Cross Sharks would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Matt Bramald for his commitment, hard work and contribution,” said the club.

“He has played an important role in the development of our open-age side, bringing his knowledge, experience and professionalism on and off the field.

“Matt has given his time and energy to helping move the Sharks forward, and his contribution has been greatly appreciated by everyone involved with the club.

“While we are naturally sorry to him leave, we are also incredibly proud to see him take the next step in his coaching career.

“The opportunity is thoroughly deserved and is fantastic recognition of the work he has put into that career.”
