TONGAN international winger Christian Tuipulotu is targeting silverware with St Helens after signing a three-year contract.
Tuipulotu, 25, is to join from St George Illawarra Dragons, where he scored 19 tries in 30 matches over three seasons with the other Red Vee.
That takes him to 33 tries in 63 NRL appearances overall, having also played for Sydney Roosters and Manly Sea Eagles.
Although raised in New Zealand, Tuipulotu represented his Tongan heritage in 2022, winning his sole cap to date against the nation of his birth.
While he only played nine times this year for the NRL’s bottom-placed side, St Helens chief executive Abi Ekoku is confident they are signing a “proven finisher”.
Ekoku – himself a former winger – added: “His physicality, versatility, and passion to bring success stood out as discussions progressed.”
Tuipulotu is Saints’ second confirmed signing for next season after Australian centre Solomona Faataape from Catalans Dragons.
The hope is that both will contribute to a more potent outfit under incoming head coach Kevin Walters, who will join after leading Australia at the World Cup which starts next month.
Saints are missing out on the Super League play-offs for the first time, and are set to pass four years without any trophy success.
“Kevin’s played and coached at some of the best teams in the world,” said Tuipulotu.
“I’ve got no doubt he’s going to be great at St Helens, and I’m excited to learn off him, pick his brains and be part of it.
“I want to bring my passion to the team and give our boys energy when I’m playing.
“I’m going to give my best, carry hard and do my job. Hopefully, we can add some more silverware to the cabinet.”
