St Helens winger Jumah Sambou finds new club

ST HELENS winger Jumah Sambou has found a new club following his exit from the Super League club.

The winger, who can also play at centre, signs for Oldham after progressing through the St Helens academy.

He made his Super League debut for Saints back in April 2022 and scored a try in the 30-10 loss against Castleford Tigers.

The 21-year-old also has championship experience, having played on dual-registration at Swinton Lions earlier this year.

After spending the past two seasons in the St Helens first team set-up, Sambou is ready to make his mark playing for Roughyeds.

“I’ve had a some experience in Super League and the Championship so I feel I’m more than ready for this opportunity with Oldham,” he said.

“I signed for the club because I wanted to be a part of a team that has ambition and wants to win things.

“I’m the type of player that can produce strong carries, I like to bring pace and power and I’m a strong finisher as well.”

Warrington-born Sambou was part of the St Helens academy side which toured Australia in 2019.

Sambou’s performances Down Under earned him the “Best Back” award after he helped Saints to victories over North Sydney, South Sydney and Penrith Panthers.

A year later, he was selected for the England National Performance squad.

After earning a full-time deal, ahead of the 2022 season, he continued his impressive try-scoring record when he scored seven to bring his total to 19 tries in 32 appearances since 2019.
