Super League-linked Michael Ennis leaves St George Illawarra Dragons

SUPER LEAGUE-LINKED Michael Ennis is the next to leave the stricken St George Illawarra Dragons.

Ennis, who has been linked to the vacant head coaching role at Hull KR from 2027, has followed number one Shane Flanagan and football department boss Ben Haran out the door at the NRL club.

“Mick contributed professionally during his time at the Dragons and has been a valued member of the coaching staff. We thank him for his efforts during his time at the Dragons,” club CEO Tim Watsford said in a statement.

Former State of Origin star Ennis had only been with the Dragons for half a season, having been appointed in September after leaving his position as assistant coach to Anthony Seibold at Manly Sea Eagles.

Dean Young will now take interim charge of St George before the club finds a permanent successor, with the Dragons sitting bottom of the NRL ladder with no wins from seven games.

Hull KR, meanwhile, will be entering a new era at the end of the 2026 Super League campaign, with successful boss Willie Peters departing Craven Park for the PNG Chiefs – who will enter the NRL in 2028.
